5. Fulfillment of one of Jesus' Prophecies

In the Jewish rebellion against Rome in 69-70 AD, Josephus records that the Romans put the city and the Temple to the torch and that these fires were still burning a month later.

The magnificent Temple that Herod had built was completely destroyed as the fires raged inside and out. These fires were so hot that the gold fittings, and the gold gilding inside and on it's outside walls melted and ran into the cracks between and in the stones. During the pillaging of the Temple these stones were broken up to get at the gold. Therefore, fulfilling Jesus' prophecy that no stone would be left on another—the destruction was total, just as Jesus foretold. Matthew 24

What does this say about the rest of Jesus' teachings/prophecies in the New Testament? If this prophecy of Jesus was fulfilled down to the smallest detail, one must assume that the rest of His teachings will also be fulfilled. Consider the following examples:

But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. Matthew 12:36

Please share at least two other prophecies/sayings of Jesus from one of the Four Gospels that will most likely be fulfilled in the future or which have already been fulfilled. (The prophecies do not have to be related to the destruction of Jerusalem)

  1. John 15: 20-21: Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me.
This came true. Jesus followers were persecuted brutally after his death. However, many non-believers also became Christians as a result of Jesus' Follower' ministries.

Luke 19:43-44: For the days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, and level you, and your children within you, to the ground.
Luke 21:20: But when you see Jerusalem surrounded by armies, then know that its desolation is near.
Both of these predictions by Jesus came true. During the fall of Jerusalem, the Roman army surrounded the city, and eventually leveled the city and burned it.

  2. And Jesus said to them, Truly I say to you, That you which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, you also shall sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. Matthew 19:28

Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty John 6:35

24Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. 25For whoever would save his lifeg will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it. 26For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul? 27For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay each person according to what he has done. 28Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.” Matthew 16

  3. For whoever is ashamed of Me and My Words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the Holy Angels. Mark 8:38

But of the day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. Watch therefor, for you do not know what hour your Lord is Coming.
therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. Mathew 24:36:42:44

  5. John 5:19 On account of this, the Jews demanded, “What sign can You show us to prove Your authority to do these things?” 19 Jesus answered, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up again.” 20“This temple took forty-six years to build,” the Jews replied, “and You are going to raise it up in three days?”…

    Mark 14:27-29

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, spoke a blessing and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is My body.”
27 Then He took the cup, gave thanks and gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you.
28 This is My blood of the covenant,d which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
29 I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until the day when I drink it anew with you in My Father’s kingdom.”

  6. The end will come when mankind has been sufficiently warned by a global proclamation of God’s Kingdom—a world government that will replace human rulership. (Daniel 7:13, 14) Jesus Christ said: “This good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.” (Matthew 24:14)

    Mark 12:25
25 When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.
